Learn More About Our Family-Owned Restaurant

The owners, Jeff and Palette Butler, proudly display their fresh, homemade cuisine to lunchers daily. The menu exhibits their interests and heritage and they continue to keep it updated to reflect their travels and experiences, as one would add photos to a scrapbook.

At first glance, you can see that The Veranda Cafe specializes in serving simple, southern fare. Everything is made from scratch, including six soups daily. Diners from all over enjoy the feel good, down-home menu which includes pimento cheese, chicken salad, sweet tea and the like. The lovely wait staff and daily specials such as meatloaf served with sides like creamed collard greens, squash casserole or real horseradish mashed potatoes and a darn good roll will make you feel like you're at a visit with your grandmother. Or you may choose to sample the low countryside of the menu which includes our "real deal" she-crab soup (which is served every Friday) shrimp and grits (which is served every Saturday) or the South Carolina style BBQ plate.

Yet another side of the Veranda kitchen draws greatly from the spicy, coastal kitchens of Louisiana. Creamy crawfish enchiladas, corn maque choux (a zesty cajun side item, including corn, peppers, onions and tomatoes) and gumbo appear regularly on our daily specials. The Butler's annual trip to St. Lucia allows The Marigot Bay Baguette (black forest ham, pepper jack cheese, fresh mango salsa and cilantro lime mayo on a French baguette) and Caribbean callaloo soup (coconut milk, sweet potatoes, spinach and lump crab) to show up on the specials from time to time. Dessert includes an array of homemade cakes and pies which taunt guests as they are escorted to their table.

Lunch at the Veranda is designed for the whole family, so please bring the kids. We will spoil them with their very own tea party! Dine inside or on our patio where you will enjoy a view of the surrounding mountains. Lunch with your canine companion on the deck if you wish, who will receive a personal water dish and treat upon arrival.
